Tuiyarus Community Conservancy - Brochure
In the heart of Baringo County lies Tuiyarus Community Conservancy, a sanctuary born from the community’s deep-rooted tradition of conservation. Established in 2018 and officially registered in 2020, the conservancy has 76 members, benefiting over 150 people. Covering 936 hectares, it stands as a beacon of community-driven environmental stewardship .
Tuiyarus takes its name from a rare medicinal shrub found only within its borders, symbolizing the community’s centuries-old connection to the land. This conservancy is not only a home to wildlife such as the greater kudu, wild dogs, and the spark inch tortoise but also to vibrant cultural history, long-standing significance.
