The area of operation of the Ngenyin Community Conservation Area is located along the shores of Lake Baringo within Akorian Sub Location, Bartum Location in Kabrtonjo Sub County in Baringo County

JUSTIFICATION FOR CONSERVATION NEED

Monitoring and conservation of species trends in numbers and distribution is essential in order to:

  • Assess their survival prospects by establishing their population dynamics
  • Learn more about their ecology and survival chances in the face of various pressures
  • Establish human-wildlife conflict pressure points

 

Objectives

  • The main objective is to conserve the environment and preserve it for future and to alleviate poverty through social/economic status of the members.
  • Contribute to the sustainable reduction of poverty while conserving the natural resources in the area.
  • Promoting economic interest of its members in accordance with community action plan.
  • To promote other measures designed to encourage the spirit and practice of mutual help and self help.
  • Provide maximum protection and conservation of endangered species of animals plants and birds
  • Preservation of cultural features
  • Promotion of eco-tourism attraction centres
  • To act as an education Centre
  • Assist or promote the assistance3 of members in mobilizing resources for funds.
  • Control budgetary allocation to members.
  • Promote and facilitate monitoring and evaluation of the progress of members.
  • To facilitate regular participatory appraisal as a basis for project identification as may be required from time to time.
  • Receive money from members and invest or deposit and dealt with the money in a manner prescribed by the annual general meeting (AGM)
  • Creation of employment opportunities to the community.
  • Do all such things as we are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objective or any of them.
